Hot, dry Monday, Tuesday; Strong storms possible Tuesday night

Sunday was another stormy day for some across central and south Alabama. A few strong to severe storms affected Chilton, Coosa, and Tallapoosa counties early in the morning. More storms moved over the same areas during the afternoon. Elsewhere, it was mainly dry. High temperatures were in the 80s to near 90°. Showers and storms quickly faded away Sunday evening. The rest of the night looks mostly cloudy and mainly dry with lows near 70°.

Monday and Tuesday look partly cloudy, hot, and dry. Afternoon temperatures reach the low 90s each day. A cold front arrives Tuesday night. That sends a line of showers and storms our way. A few storms may be strong to severe, capable of mainly strong wind gusts. As of Sunday evening, a marginal (level 1/5) severe risk covers the northwest part of our area for Tuesday night.

Some showers or storms may still be ongoing at sunrise Wednesday. However, the afternoon looks drier with sunshine as the cold front moves through our area. Temperatures turn cooler behind the front and humidity falls. Wednesday night lows range from the upper 50s to low 60s. Afternoon temperatures only warm into the mid 80s Thursday and Friday. Both days look dry. Dry weather may continue into Memorial Day weekend, but some rain appears possible by Monday.
