Strong To Severe Storm Threat Ahead
We start the workweek out with a rather hot and humid air mass in place. It continues into Tuesday but a cold fronts on the way and it will bring significant changes to our weather by midweek. A quick round of rain and storms then a trend towards clear and milder conditions.
In the meantime, we have a quiet night ahead with a mostly cloudy sky and temps falling into the upper 60s to lower 70s overnight. Tuesday begins uneventful with a partly sunny sky and temps climbing into the upper 80s to lower 90s by late afternoon. The storm threat will increase as we go into the late evening hours. Storms will enter West Alabama around 10pm and advance eastward. Some of the storms will be capable of damaging wind gust up to 60 mph and quarter size hail. The tornado threat with this round is low but not completely zero. We expect the storms to weaken and exit our southern counties around 4am.
The rest of the work week is looking rather nice! High pressure will build over the deep south and that will help provide us mainly clear and dry conditions. The air mass will be less humid leading to some really nice mornings. Temps will fall into the upper 50s to lower 60s for lows and daytime highs in the mid 80s for several days.
Memorial Day weekend will have the chance for showers and t-storms each day. We could see an increase in rain storm coverage on Monday (Me Temps will climb into the mid 80s for highs and lows in the lower to mid 60s.
