Home Depot says it won’t raise prices due to tariffs
The Home Depot says it won’t raise prices even if it faces higher costs due to tariffs.
The home improvement giant is taking a different approach than that of Walmart and other retailers that plan to pass tariff costs onto consumers.
As Action 8 News has reported, Walmart said earlier this month that it must raise prices due to higher costs from tariffs implemented by President Trump.
Home Depot’s finance chief told CNBC the company’s scale and partnerships with suppliers makes it able to generally hold current pricing levels.
More than half of the retailer’s products come from the U.S.
However, the ongoing trade disputes between the U.S. and other countries have indirectly hurt Home Depot. Low consumer sentiment due to fears over the economy has in part kept some customers away.
