Elmore County man arrested for murder of his wife

An Elmore County man has been arrested and charged in the murder of his wife.

The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. Saturday on Tallassee Highway 14, just east of Neman Road between Eclectic and Tallasee.

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin says 34-year-old Zachary Lee was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife.

Lee told dispatchers that his wife shot at him and he shot back.

When deputies arrived, his wife was pronounced dead on the scene.

Lee is currently in the Elmore County Jail charged with murder. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday for an Aniah’s Law hearing.
