CAMPAIGN 2026: Attorney General Steve Marshall running for U.S. Senate
CAMPAIGN 2026: Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has announced that he will run for U.S. Senate.
Marshall is seeking the seat currently held by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who announced that he is running for governor.
Marshall is in his second term as attorney general and cannot seek a third term due to term limits.
Marshall is a native of Atmore and served 16 years as district attorney in Marshall County before he was appointed as attorney general by then-Gov. Robert Bentley in 2017. He then ran and won two consecutive terms.
He has an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his law degree from the University of Alabama.
Marshall and his wife, Tammy, live in Montgomery and have three children: Faith Marshall, John Millan Gaston and Benen Gaston.
The race has another Republican, former U.S. Navy SEAL Jared Hudson of Birmingham, and one Democrat, Kyle Sweetser of Mobile.
The primaries are May 19, 2026.
