City of Montgomery to provide lifeguards for Maxwell Air Force Base
This swimming season, the City of Montgomery will provide Maxwell Air Force Base with lifeguards.
The city and the base have signed what’s being called a “first-of-its-kind” agreement that provides seasonal lifeguard services.
“We’re always looking for ways to strengthen the connection to see what we can do to support our men and women,” Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said. “No task is too small because they do so much for us, so when you can do things like this, I think it just reinforces the partnership that we have in the focus that we have at any and all levels to support our men and women in uniform each and every way we can.”
“Our symbiotic relationship doesn’t end at the start of the gate that says ‘Welcome to Maxwell,’ and so this is just another example of us working together to ensure the community partnership exists and then there’s mutual support between both entities,” Col. Shamekia Toliver, commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing said.
The base has opened its two pools for the summer season.
