Fourteen city departments including the mayor’s office — divided up about sixty youth — who’ll work for the city for the next four weeks.

The workers will work from 4 up to 8 hours a day — 4 days a week at $9 dollars an hour.

“I think it’s one of the best things we do in our community,” said Mayor James Perkins, Jr.

“These young folks are going to be working in every department, from finance to the cemetery, recreation, public works, all of the departments. They will actually learn a lot about municipal government. They’ll learn a lot about their city.”

The city is currently recruiting to fill about 80 slots available for the second half of the program in July.
