Home of 93 year old Selma woman riddled with bullet holes

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

A Selma family is packing up an elderly family member — and moving her out of her home — after the house is shot up last week.

Vickie Garrett grew up on Pecan Drive — in a house her mother still lived in — up until last week.

“I love Selma. I’ve lived here my whole life but it’s become a place that you’re really afraid of,” she said.

Waka Houseshotup0604 PkgGarrett says the family decided to move her mother out of the house — after a shooting over the Memorial Day weekend — left the house riddled with bullet holes.

“That went all the way through the front of the house all the way through the back.”

Lt. Ray Blanks says detectives are pouring over Sky Cop camera video and examining shell casings recovered from the scene. But no arrests have been made at this time.

“It appears, appear that someone just either rode by an shot into the residence or stood in the street and shot into the residence,” said Blanks.

“We did collect a number of casings. At this time we can’t indicate how many casings that was collected. But we did find a number of casings that was connected to that house.”

Blanks said there is some indication that the perpetrators may have shot up the wrong house.
