Lee County man arrested on sexual assault charge

A Lee County man is in custody on a sexual assault charge.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says around 6:58 p.m. Monday, a woman called into the 911 center and sounded like she was in distress from what appeared to be a sexual assault occurring at the time.

The victim didn’t speak to the dispatcher, but the line remained open.

Cell phone location confirmed that the assault was taking place in the 800 block of Lee Road 272, in the Cusseta community.

About seven minutes later, deputies arrived and immediately took 49-year-old Topciciain Vaugh into custody.

Vaughn was taken to the Lee County Jail where he was charged with one count of Sodomy First Degree.

He is being held in the Lee County Jail on no bond, pending an Aniah’s Law Hearing.
