Afternoon/evening showers/storms through Father’s Day weekend
Thursday’s weather was rather routine for a June day across central and south Alabama. It was hot (and humid), with high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. Heat indices were in the mid to upper 90s. Showers and storms were scattered about during the afternoon, producing locally heavy rain, some thunder and lightning, and took a bite out of the heat. Showers and storms linger Thursday evening, but fade away overnight with lows in the low 70s.
Routine summer weather continues Friday and Father’s Day weekend. Showers and storms become scattered about again Friday afternoon, and linger into the evening. Before cooling rain arrives in any given location, temperatures reach the upper 80s to low 90s with higher heat indices. Daytime rain and storm coverage remains elevated Saturday and Sunday. Be sure to head indoors if you hear thunder roar this weekend.
Rain chances remain highest through Monday of next week. However, looks like daytime shower and storm coverage decreases Tuesday through Friday. Only isolated to widely scattered showers and storms form each day. Meanwhile, the heat stays on, with high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s each day. Rain chances may remain lower next weekend, while temperatures remain hot, with highs in the low 90s.
