Police: Andalusia mother arrested after newborn baby tests positive for drugs
An Andalusia mother has been arrested after police say her newborn baby tested positive for drugs.
Police say 38-year-old Jennifer Michelle Albro of Andalusia is charged with chemical endangerment of a child. They say her baby tested positive for amphetamines and opioids.
She is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Andalusia Police Sgt. Al McGraw said the baby, who is a week old, is still being treated at the Pensacola, Florida, hospital where the baby was born.
McGraw expressed his appreciation to the Covington County Department of Human Resources and the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance with the case.
