Elevated chances for showers/storms Father’s Day into next week

Saturday afternoon was stormy again in many locations. Some storms were fairly intense, producing heavy rain and frequent lightning. A couple storms became severe in Chilton and Elmore, Macon, and Tallapoosa counties. Those were capable of damaging wind gusts. Showers and storms diminished fairly early Saturday evening. The rest of Saturday night likely remains dry with a partly to mostly cloudy sky and lows in the low 70s.

Father’s day begins mainly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. However, scattered to numerous showers and storms form during the afternoon. Before cooling rain arrives, temperatures reach the low 90s in many locations. Some showers and storms linger into the evening, before fading away Sunday night. The sky becomes partly cloudy with lows in the low 70s.

Showers and storms become scattered about again Monday and Tuesday. However, daily rain coverage looks lower Wednesday through Friday. Before cooling rain arrives, high temperatures range from the upper 80s to low 90s each day with higher heat indices. It looks like showers and storms remain isolated in terms of coverage next weekend. Otherwise, Saturday and Sunday look partly cloudy and hot, with high temperatures in the low 90s at least.
