A $220,383 grant will help the town of New Site in Tallapoosa County expand its health clinic and add more medical services.

Today, Gov. Kay Ivey announced the grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission will help fund a 757-square-foot addition to the clinic, which opened in 2021.

“Since its opening, the New Site medical facility has provided quality medical services to more than 1,140 patients each month,” Gov. Ivey said. “I am pleased to support this expansion, which will further improve patient care while helping to reduce wait times.”

The expansion, expected to be completed by November 2026, will include an additional exam room, an X-ray area and office space. Town officials said the improvement will result in a more convenient, in-house diagnostic service, reducing the need to travel elsewhere for the service.

An earlier ARC grant was used to build the original medical center which includes a pharmacy and exam area.

Gov. Ivey notified Mayor Phil Blasingame that the award had been granted. The town has pledged $220,383 for the project.

ARC is an economic development agency of the federal government and 13 state governments. Thirty-seven Alabama counties, including Tallapoosa County, are part of the ARC region and eligible for funds.
