ACTION 8 UPDATE: Construction begins to update entrance to Montgomery Zoo
Work is starting to overhaul the entrance to the Montgomery Zoo.
The city approved a $4.2 million plan to update the entrance with new offices, ticket windows, a gift shop, restrooms and a new plaza.
For the next year, guests will enter and exit through the Mann Museum, which is on the left side of the zoo from the normal main entrance.
“I know, it’s a little frustrating with all the new renovations towards the admissions part of the zoo,” Bailey Glasgow, the zoo’s manager of marketing and public relations told Action 8 News. “But once you get inside the zoo, the zoo is doing great, the zoo is doing good where we still have a lot of growth, we’re doing a lot of projects here at the zoo. We want people to come and enjoy the zoo as much as possible. We do apologize for the inconvenience of all of the changes at the admissions booth, but we hope that we can figure out those growing pains to get people to come back inside.”
The construction is expected to take about a year to finish.
