Greenville students trade classroom for the outdoors in summertime learning

Students with Greenville’s summer learning initiative get to experience a unique way of combining  learning and exercise.
Teachers with W.O. Palmer and Greenville Elementary Schools take a nearly one mile walk with their students once a week to enhance their summer educations through interaction.
They walk to the local Farmer’s Market in a walking field trip. Students participating in the Summer Learning Program stay up to date in both learning and fun with interactive learning activities such as visiting the market.
Students are allowed to freely  walk through the farmers market and given the option to purchase their own snacks, flowers, favorites fruits and vegetables. This teaches students a lifelong lesson about food production and purchase power.
Also learning that fresh fruit and veggies make a huge difference in our lives and learning to respect the time and effort of those people who make farming a priority.
