Selma Mall to get new life with new owner?
The Selma Mall may be getting a new owner and a new future after a year of negotiations.
Prospective owner Brian Gallagher of Worldwide Consultants Company expects to close the deal in July.
Gallagher owns the Amazon store located in the old Belk location and he says he’s planning to open several more stores across the the state.
He says he decided he wanted to buy the entire property because it was inexpensive and had plenty of space. He plans to turn part of the space into a distribution center for his stores.
One shopper told Action 8 News that she likes shopping at the Amazon store.
“I like it. I like it a lot. We don’t have anything like that where I’m from. If you have an Amazon app, Walmart app or Target app, you can scan the bar code and everything in there is 50% of whatever it is. So, it’s very simple whenever it comes up, you just divide it by two. And that’s your price,” Nicole Sutton said.
There’s been a significant drop in traffic at the mall over the last few years. There are only a handful of stores still open in the space.
