Summer Heat Ramping Up This Weekend!
This wet and stormy weather pattern we’re in will be coming to an end after Thursday. Summer heat and humidity will be ramping up Friday and even more so over the upcoming weekend. 90+ degree high temps will become the norm. It’s looking like showers and t-storms will be fewer in number. Summer officially begins Friday June 20 and it’s going to feel ever bit of it.
In the meantime, late afternoon showers and storms have cooled the air mass quite a bit.  Some scattered showers will linger over the area through the evening hours.  It’s looking partly to mostly cloudy with temps hovering in the lower to mid 70s overnight.
A frontal system will move into the deep south Thursday. We expect showers and t-storms along and ahead of the boundary. Some storms that do develop will be capable of heavy downpours, frequent lightning strikes, and gusty winds. Temps will manage the upper 80s to lower 90s for highs.
Our upcoming weekend is looking even hotter! Temps are expected to reach the lower to mid 90s for highs. You factor in the humidity and it will probably feel more like 100. The old dreaded heat index may slowly becoming more of a factor. It’s going to be thinking about slowing down and taking it a little easier during those peak heating hours.
