Alabama Dept. of Corrections graduates 92 officers

The Alabama Department of Corrections has graduated 92 new corrections officers.

The ceremony was held yesterday at the Church of the Highlands in Montgomery, where family and friends watched the new officers receive their certificates.
The officers spent 10 weeks in a basic training course where they learned all of the skills they’d need to for their careers.
“We have four academy graduations a year and we anticipate over 100 next time, so adding to our security force, I mean, that’s paramount for us protecting the public, protecting the officers and protecting the inmates,” Alabama Dept. of Corrections Commissioner John Hamm told Action 8 News.
The new correctional officers learned which facilities they would be placed in throughout the state as they received their graduate certificates.
