Montgomery teenager dead in city’s latest homicide
Montgomery police are investigating a homicide involving a teenager.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 5000 block of Greensboro Court. That location is just off Mobile Highway.
Once officers arrived, they found 13-year-old Diamond Moore, of Montgomery, dead from a gunshot wound.
No word on any suspects at this time.
Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed issued the following statement today in response to the fatal shooting:
“I am heartbroken and outraged by the tragic death of 13-year-old Diamond Moore—an innocent child whose life was taken far too soon. No family should ever have to endure this kind of unimaginable loss, and no community should grow accustomed to this kind of senseless violence.
I have spoken with Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys and, as usual, investigators are using every available resource to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
Diamond should be alive today. She should be enjoying her summer. Instead, her family is preparing for a funeral. We will not accept this as normal in Montgomery. We will not allow violence to steal the futures of our children.
To Diamond’s loved ones—on behalf of our entire city—I offer my deepest condolences. We mourn with you. And we will not stop working to create a city where every child is safe.”
This is the 32nd homicide of 2025.
