Girl Scouts celebrate “Leading Ladies” in the community
Yesterday, the Girl Scouts celebrated leading ladies in the community.
The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama hosted its 9th Annual Leading Ladies Awards Brunch at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club. This event celebrates women and businesses who make a real difference in their communities, especially those focused on helping girls and women succeed.
“The women that we’re honoring have given back both professionally and in their communities,” Karlyn Edmonds, the CEO for the group, said. “They’re women who hold important roles in the working world, but also women who understand the importance of giving back and of community service, of leadership. And, really those are the skills that we teach our Girl Scouts as well. How to be leaders, the importance of giving back, the importance of being good citizens. These women are role modeling that to these girls every single day.”
The Girl Scouts honored seven women and one business:
Gina Anderson, COO/CNO Jackson Hospital and Clinic
Coretta Boykin, president Reid State Technical College
Jennifer Hall, regional workforce director, Alabama Community College System
Amerika Blair, innovation team director, Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation
Pam Mashburn, founder and president, Explore Media
Sue Beasley, Petrey town clerk
Vanessa Li-Davis, lab leader, Novelis
