Pike Road celebrates America’s independence with Summerfest
Pike Road got an early start to Independence Day celebrations with its annual Summerfest celebration.
Last night, the event was held at the Pike Road Agriculture, Recreation & Performing Arts Park.
Music played, the weather cooperated and faces were painted as the community gathered for a fun night.
“I think the excitement — it’s just everyone coming out with all the smiles on their faces all the things for the kids, face painting, the beads, everyone is so nice and so welcoming,” Raegan Pickens of Pike Road said about why she enjoyed being there.
Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone said he expected as many as 4,000 people to come out for the festivities. Other towns will be holding Independence Day events in the coming days.
