Hot, humid, scattered storms for the rest of June and start of July

Saturday’s weather was about as routine as it gets across central and south Alabama in late June. It was hot and humid with high temperatures in the low 90s and higher heat indices. Showers and storms became scattered about during the afternoon, then gradually diminished during the evening. Most of the rain was gone at 10PM, and the rest of Saturday night looks dry with a partially clearing sky. Temperatures fall into the low 70s overnight.

While Sunday morning looks partly cloudy and dry, Sunday afternoon features a healthy coverage of showers and storms. Before cooling rain arrives, temperatures warm into the low 90s, again with higher heat indices. Some showers or storms linger into the evening, but fade away Sunday night. Rain coverage remains elevated Monday and Tuesday, as June comes to a close and July begins.

However, showers and storms become more scarce after next Wednesday. Only isolated showers and storms form Thursday and Independence day. That likely remains the case for the rest of the holiday weekend and even early in the following week. Meanwhile, lower chances for rain may result in a little more heat. High temperatures may approach the mid 90s Friday and Saturday.
