Three Killed in Separate Alabama Crashes So Far This Weekend

JEMISON, Ala. (WAKA) — A deadly start to the weekend on Alabama’s roadways has left three people dead in separate crashes, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The latest crash occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 31, about two miles north of Jemison in Chilton County. Bradley Goggins, 34, of Calera, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a pickup truck, state troopers said. The driver of the pickup was injured and taken to UAB Hospital.

Two others were killed and a third person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Covington County on Friday evening. The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on County Road 70 near Mary Williamson Road, about five miles from the Andalusia city limits.

Travis Duke, 37, of Andalusia, and Christy Shaw, 20, of Headland, were both killed when their vehicles collided head-on. Duke’s vehicle overturned and Shaw’s vehicle struck a ditch. An 18-year-old passenger in Shaw’s vehicle was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
