From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Selma Police are investigating the Queen City’s 6th homicide of the year following a fatal shooting Sunday night.
The victim in the shooting was a 15 year old juvenile — whose name has not been released by authorities.
Lt. Ray Blanks says the shooting happened at around 8:30 Sunday night — at a birthday party on the 200 block of Race Street in East Selma.
He says as officers responded to the scene — they learned — that a gunshot victim was on the way to the Vaughan E-R in a privately owned vehicle.
“Officers went to the scene. Some officers went to the Vaughan E-R. The ones that arrived at the Vaughan E-R learned that a 15 year old had been shot at the location,” said Blanks.
“That 15 year old did not survive his injuries.”
“At this time we are currently going through video. And we’re working on trying to get leads to see what happened and what’s the motive behind this shooting.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call investigators at 334-876-1259.
