Shaun Dion Hamilton honored at Montgomery City Council

The Montgomery City Council is honoring Shaun Dion Hamilton, who went from playing football here to the NFL, where he is now a coach.

Last night, the city council proclaimed July 1 as Shaun Dion Hamilton day.

Hamilton is Montgomery native who played football at Carver High School before going to Alabama, where he helped win two National Championship titles under head coach Nick Saban.
He then went to the NFL. While the Detroit Lions released him as a player in 2022, his time with the team wasn’t over. He joined the coaching staff as a defensive assistant and is now the linebackers coach.
Hamilton says he wants kids in Montgomery to know that you can be from here and make it big.
“There’s no substitute for hard work,” Hamilton told Action 8 News. “There’s always going to be adversity, but it’s how we respond to it. I’m just so grateful and so thankful that all the hard work and successes has paved the way for me to be able to lead the youth and other individuals, not just here in Montgomery, but worldwide, and that there is hope out there for somebody else to be Like Shaun Dion Hamilton. Roll Tide always.”
Hamilton says his family has had a great impact on his success.
