Hotter temperatures, low rain chance Independence Day weekend

Thursday was a dry summer day for a change across central and south Alabama. Humidity was a bit lower thanks to a front that pushed through our area Wednesday. That suppressed any chance for rain. Meanwhile, temperatures were tolerable for early July, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s in most locations. Thursday night remains dry despite some clouds in the sky. Temperatures fall into the low 70s.

Rain chances remain low Independence Day weekend. However, isolated showers and storms form on the fourth of July during the afternoon. Before cooling rain arrives, temperatures may surge into the mid 90s in at least some locations, with higher heat indices. Temperatures likely warm into the mid 90s Saturday and Sunday too. Meanwhile, only stray to isolated showers or storms form each afternoon.

Monday could be hot too, with high temperatures potentially in the mid 90s. However, the heat may back down for the rest of next week, with high temperatures in the low 90s Tuesday through Friday. That’s due in part to higher chances for rain each day. Temperatures may only warm to around 90° next weekend, due in part to widely scattered showers and storms Saturday and Sunday.
