Montgomery Regional Airport expects more than 1200 passengers over the holiday weekend

The Montgomery Regional Airport says it expects a surge in travelers this holiday weekend.

Over the next three days, MGM is anticipating to welcome more than 1,250 passengers across 28 flights.

“July 4th is always a busy travel period, and this year is no exception,” said Brittney Dabney, Communications and Marketing Manager for MGM. “We’re encouraging travelers to arrive early, fly local, and enjoy the ease and convenience Montgomery’s airport has to offer.”

The airport is offering tips for people flying in and out of the airport:

  • Arrive Early: Travelers should arrive at least 90 minutes before departure to allow time for
    check-in, security, and boarding.
  • Plan Ahead: Check with your airline for real-time flight updates and allow for extra time when
traveling with young children or in groups.
  • Pack Smart: Review TSA guidelines in advance—fireworks, sparklers, and other explosive items
are prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage.
  • On-Site Parking: Ample and affordable parking is available just steps away from the terminal.

Airport officials say with more locals choosing to skip the long drive and fly local, they are encouraging passengers to plan ahead for a smooth, stress-free experience.

“Flying local means shorter lines, closer parking, and a travel experience grounded in Southern hospitality,” Jones-Dabney added. “MGM is here to help families get where they’re going with ease so they can spend more time enjoying the holiday.”
