Candlelight vigil held to remember man killed in Montgomery
A candlelight vigil has been held in memory of a man killed in February in Montgomery.
Last night, friends and family gathered in the parking lot across from Carver High School to remember Reginald McCray, who died after being shot.
Police say on Saturday, February 15, at about 10:14PM, they were called to the 100 block of Nottingham Court, in the Forest Hills area not far from Perry Hill Road. That’s where they found McCray, who was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 33 years old.
McCray, known as “Red”, left behind 10 children, his family said.
“Violence has torn apart so many families, in this community and across this country. I think it’s time now, instead of just saying ‘enough is enough’, it’s time to put down the guns and let’s come together,” Walter Hill, McCray’s cousin, told Action 8 News.
Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys was on hand to support the family, letting them know that their case is still active and the family’s loss has not been forgotten.
