Mid-90° heat, low chances for rain Independence Day weekend

It was hotter than the… well, it was the fourth of July on Friday. High temperatures were in the low to mid 90s. The mid-90° may have been more widespread were it not for isolated storms that formed during the afternoon. A few of these storms were strong to severe. They produced heavy rain, frequent lightning, and potentially damaging wind gusts.

Fortunately, storms quickly faded away by early Friday evening. Fireworks shows were not interrupted by showers or storms. Our area remains dry with a mostly clear sky Friday night. Low temperatures fall into the low 70s. Saturday looks partly to mostly sunny and hot, with high temperatures in the mid 90s. Only stray to isolated showers or storms form during the afternoon. Sunday’s weather looks just like Saturday.

High temperatures could be in the mid 90s in many locations Monday too, while rain coverage remains low. However, the heat may back down for the rest of the week, as daily rain chances increase. Temperatures may only warm into the low 90s Tuesday through Friday. Showers and storms become widely scattered each day. High temperatures may remain in the low 90s with widely scattered showers and storms next weekend.
