Montgomery man arrested for abuse of a child

A Montgomery man is in custody after police say he abused a child.

The incident happened around 8:00 a.m. on February 28 in the 4300 block of Sussex Drive.

According to court records, 38-year-old Decarlos Gardner, was living in the household with the victim, when he willingly abused the 6-year-old girl.

Court records say the girl was hit “in the eye with a belt while getting a whipping and suffered a black eye on the left side of her face.”

The child is now in the custody of foster care.

Gardner is in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond.
