Body of missing Auburn man believed to have been found

Auburn police believe they have found the body of a missing man.

A death investigation is underway after human remains were found Tuesday in the 2500 block of East University Drive.

Upon arrival on scene, officers found “a body in an advanced stage of decomposition” inside an abandoned structure.

Investigators say they located property at the scene belonging to 50-year-old Julian Edward “Eddie” Nichols III. Nichols was reported missing on June 10.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the identity, but they say there is no evidence to suggest any criminal activity or a present threat to the community.
