The suspect arrested in an officer-involved shooting in Montgomery has been identified.

It happened around 2:40 p.m. Monday when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Country Church Road near N. Water Mill Road. That location is near Eastern Boulevard.

Sgt. Tina McGriff tells Action 8 News that the vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued that ended with a brief foot chase in the 5700 block of Villas Lane.

During the foot chase, the adult male suspect, now identified as 20-year-old Tevoris Burt, of Montgomery, fired a weapon at an officer and the officer returned fire.

Sgt. McGriff says MPD quickly deployed additional resources to the area engaging Burt on foot and he was taken into custody on Villas Lane.

There were no injuries to the officer or the suspect.

Burt is charged with shooting into an occupied building and attempted murder. He is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
