Second suspect arrested in Opelika burglary turned homicide

Opelika BurglaryA second suspect has been arrested in connection to a burglary turned homicide in Opelika.

The fatal shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Herndon Street.

Police say 35-year-old Maturius Daniel, of Pike Road, 18-year-old Kentravious Lark, of Tuskegee, and 20-year-old Deon Daniel were involved in a burglary at a home there.

During the incident, gunfire was exchanged with the homeowner and the suspects, resulting in the death of Deon Daniel.

Lark was taken into custody Friday. Maturius Daniel was arrested Monday.

Both men are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, first degree robbery and first degree burglary.
