Man arrested and charged with two July 12 murders in Montgomery
A 22-year-old man has been charged with killing two men in related incidents in Montgomery on July 12. Just before 4pm, Montgomery Police found 27-year-old Malik Benson dead from a gunshot wound in the 400 block of North California Street.
Then, less than a mile away, 26-year-old Dekeith Whatley was shot and killed in the 1700 block of Upper Wetumpka Road. Dontrez Taylor has been charged with Capital Murder and Murder.
Taylor was taken into custody on July 18, 2025, and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
