Man shot in neighborhood near Woodley Road in Montgomery

UPDATE: Montgomery police say the victim, 28-year-old Desanco Smith of Montgomery, has died of his injuries. A homicide investigation has been launched.

Montgomery police are investigating a shooting that left a man with serious injuries.

Police say the shooting happened at about 1:40 this morning in the 3200 block of Meadow Lane, which is in a neighborhood not far from Woodley Road, just outside of the bypass.

Officers found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No other information has been released.
