More mid-90° heat this week, rain chances increase Wednesday
Sunday was blazing hot and bone dry across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were in the mid 90s in many locations. Our area remained rain-free during the afternoon, so air temperatures were still near 90° with heat indices closer to 100° as the evening began. Sunday night remains dry with a mostly clear sky. Temperatures fall into the mid 70s.
Mid-90° heat continues this week. Meanwhile, rain chances stay low, but not zero, Monday and Tuesday. Afternoon shower and storm coverage increases Wednesday. That likely lasts through the end of the week. However, afternoon temperatures likely still reach the mid 90s Wednesday through Friday. High temperatures may also be in the mid 90s next weekend, but rain coverage remains scattered.
