MONTGOMERY, Ala (WAKA Action 8) – A Montgomery man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Monday.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. Monday on Interstate 85 near mile marker 2, inside the city limits of Montgomery.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says 50-year-old Dakus M. Nixon died when the 2008 Freightliner Box truck he was driving rear-ended another vehicle.

After the impact, the box truck struck a concrete barrier. ALEA says Nixon was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected. Nixon was transported to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, where he later died from his injuries.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
