Heat Relief For Some Over The Next Few Days

High pressure located to our west is relaxing and we’re seeing an easterly to southeasterly wind flow establishing itself over the area.   This is transporting Atlantic and gulf moisture into the state and fueling afternoon showers and t-storms. Looks like this setup will continue through Friday.

In the meantime, scattered showers and t-storms will advance westward across the area this evening.   Not everyone will see the rain activity.  Where the storms do occur you can expect a brief downpour with gusty winds and lightning.  The storms will weaken and die out late evening. Overnight is looking partly cloudy with temps only falling into the  mid 70s.

We’re watching for the development of a low pressure system over the northern gulf Thursday into Friday.  This system will increase rain chances and also limit sunshine a bit.  As a result, we expect highs temps to only manage lower 90s late week.

The upcoming weekend is looking typical for late July.  High pressure builds back down into the area and that will help limit showers and storm development.  Temps will be heading back up and mid 90s are likely in spots.
