A Heat Wave Setting Up For Early Next Week!

The heat has backed down a bit lately but it’s about to crank up and stay that way for several days. A summer heat wave is setting up for early next week. Temps will soar into the upper 90s for highs. Heat indices could be hovering around the 110 degree mark.   It’s going to be an extremely hot period and now’s the time to prepare and make sure your family has sufficient cooling to get through it.

In the meantime, scattered showers and t-storms will advance westward across the area this evening.   Not everyone will see the rain activity.  Where the storms do occur you can expect a brief downpour with gusty winds and lightning.  The storms will weaken and die out late evening. Overnight is looking partly cloudy with temps only falling into the  mid 70s.

We’re back into the lower 90s Friday afternoon.  Scattered showers and t-storms will work through the area during the afternoon and evening hours.  Storms that do develop will be capable of brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

The upcoming weekend is looking typical for late July.  High pressure builds back down into the area and that will help limit showers and storm development.  Temps will be heading back up and mid 90s are likely in spots.
