Scattered storms Friday and Saturday, drier and hotter Sunday

Showers and storms were already scattered across southwest Alabama Friday morning. They remain scattered about during the afternoon, and may translate east of I-65 to include locations that were mainly dry through midday. Outside of rain, expect a partly cloudy sky with high temperatures in the low 90s. Some showers or storms linger into the evening, but our area may become mainly dry well before midnight. Expect a partly cloudy sky overnight with lows in the mid 70s.

Our chance for rain looks decent Saturday, with scattered showers and storms around during the afternoon. That helps limit high temperatures to the low 90s for most, maybe mid 90s for some. However, Sunday looks mainly dry and hot. Temperatures likely warm into the mid 90s in most locations. Meanwhile, heat indices likely exceed 100° for much of the afternoon.

Next week may begin even hotter, with high temperatures in the upper 90s Monday and Tuesday. Heat indices may exceed 105° those days, so heat advisories may be issued for central and south Alabama early next week. Rain chances rise Wednesday through next weekend. That results in less heat, though high temperatures may still range from the low to mid 90s through Friday. High temperatures likely remain in the low 90s next weekend.
