Intense heat early this week… heat indices 105°+ through Tuesday

Sunday was a hot and dry day across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were in the low to mid to upper 90s. Meanwhile, heat indices were near or above 105° during the afternoon. The heat advisory that was in effect through Sunday evening for central Alabama now continues through Tuesday evening. Heat indices may exceed 105° Monday and Tuesday afternoon.

Sunday night looks mainly clear with lows in the mid 70s. High temperatures range from the mid to upper 90s Monday and Tuesday. Rain coverage looks limited Monday afternoon and evening. However, showers and storms become scattered about Tuesday afternoon and evening. A scattered coverage of daytime showers and storms through the end of the week ultimately curbs the afternoon heat. However, high temperatures may remain in the mid 90s through Friday.

Afternoon temperatures may only warm into the low 90s next weekend. The reduced heat comes as a result of scattered to numerous showers and storms Saturday and Sunday. Rain coverage may remain scattered for the first few days of the following week. Meanwhile, high temperatures stay in the low 90s Monday through Wednesday.
