Autauga County Schools preparing for new school year

Officials at Autauga County Schools are preparing for the start of the new school year, which features some changes.
Some students find themselves in new schools with the closing of Autaugaville School in May due to low enrollment and other factors.
There have already been several open houses for students throughout the county, with others to come.
The staff has also been busy this summer refreshing different school facilities to ensure they’re fully prepared for when students return.
“Judge us on the result,” Autauga County School Superintendent Lyman Woodfin told Action 8 News. “You’ll see our report card went up again last year, hopefully again, our parents see that we’re trying to prioritize our facilities. We’re trying to give our kids what they need. I’m very, very excited about the future at Autauga County, our teachers and staff, they do more with less than anybody in the state. So we were making it happen, and we’re all very excited for the start of the school year, and just judge us on what you see.”
Autauga County students go back to school Thursday, August 7.
