Behind the Biscuits: Brock Jones
Biscuit’s Outfielder, Brock Jones, is a native of sunny Fresno, California. He grew up loving sports and playing nearly everything throughout childhood.
“I went on to play every sport I could in in Elementary school. I ran track, basketball, I wrestled, played football, and baseball. Then I kind of narrowed it down to football and baseball,” explains Jones.
Jones had the opportunity to play both at the division I college level at Stanford University. While at Stanford, Jones began pursing a degree in Science, Technology & Society with a focus in Organization. However, Jones was drafted his junior year and wasn’t able to finish his degree, but he does plan to finish it up this offseason.
Due to the Covid Pandemic, he was only able to play both football and baseball his freshman year before hanging up the football cleats to pursue his baseball career full time.
While Jones did give up his football career, he did take lessons and techniques from the gridiron to the baseball diamond.
“Being a safety in football kind of helps me because it’s a lot of similar footwork and kind of tracking the ball and angles and all those different things. So, I think a lot of times those things kind of go hand in hand and help me a lot,” says Jones.
Through the stressful moments that come with trying to pursue a career in professional baseball, Jones now has something to keep him grounded and motivated, his son.
“I think it’s a great reminder for me and puts things into perspective. He doesn’t care if I do good or bad, you know he just likes seeing his dad out there. And whenever I’m in the outfield, my wife always brings him over to the fence and he just looks at me and he goes ‘dada, dada’ and that for me just takes everything kind of away from baseball and just puts things into perspective for me. Just be grateful for each and every moment when I’m out there and be grateful for them and like I said just puts life more
so into perspective,” explains Jones.
