Students at Saint James School return for new school year

Several students returned back to school Friday, including some right here in Montgomery.

Action 8 News stopped by Saint James School as faculty and staff welcomed back its students for the start of the new school year.

This year’s theme is “Trojans on Purpose,” where everything they do is with their mission and purpose at heart.

Head of School Dr. Larry McLemore says the first day of school sets the tone for the rest of their lives.

“It’s a family here and it’s all about the kids,” said Dr. McLemore. “That’s the bottom line, right? We get the best time in the world because we get to be a part of their beginning. We get to build them up from the beginning. That’s what we do. That’s the most important thing. They’re gonna take what we do here with them for the rest of their lives. We are changing the direction of their lives [and] that’s why we get up everyday.”

Saint James School has 850 students in grades K-2 through the 12th grade.

In addition to Saint James, Auburn City Schools and Chilton County Schools also started back Friday.
