Two-A-Days: Percy Julian

Last year in Kenneth White’s first year at the helm at Percy Julian, the Phoenix finished up with a 5-5 overall record. This year, the team is young with several new starters including at the quarterback position.

“We had a lot of seniors last year that graduated, so just kind of reloading and not trying to hit the basement floor and getting the new guys up to speed,” explains White.

Senior linebacker and defensive end George Hunter is excited about this year’s team as he explains there is a lot of fresh talent that has been proving themselves throughout the offseason.

“We have a lot of talent that we didn’t know about last year. Last year, we had a lot of seniors, like 20 plus seniors, so we didn’t really know who could play or what not. So this summer it was about trying to see who we could put where, and it actually surprised me a lot. We’ve got a lot of talent that’s young, but they can play,” says Hunter.

Percy Julian kicks off their 2025-26 campaign on Friday, August 22nd at Paul W. Bryant.
