Robbery suspect opens fire on Dallas Co. Deputy

A robbery suspect is behind bars tonight — after he opens fire on the Dallas Co. deputy — who responded to the robbery call.

Waka Deputyshotat0813 PkgThirty-four year old William Brinkman is being held without bond on charges that include the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.

Sheriff Mike Granthum says Brinkman robbed a man at a Dollar General store. Carjacked another man. Then opened fire on a deputy.

“The deputy was able to return fire and was able to strike that vehicle at least three times. Several of the shots hit the hood and the actual windshield of the vehicle but didn’t strike the suspect,” said Granthum.

The ALEA Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.

It’s the agency’s policy to investigate all officer-involved shootings in the state.
