Showers, storms through Friday; Less rain, more heat this weekend
Wednesday morning was mainly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Not the kind of weather we expect in August. The culprit was an area of low pressure in southwest Alabama. It continues to lift northeast across our area through the day. Our sky likely remains mostly cloudy with additional scattered showers and storms. Temperatures only warm into the 80s in most locations.
A few showers or storms linger Wednesday evening, but most fade away Wednesday night. The sky remains partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the low to mid 70s. Thursday morning may remain mainly dry with some sunshine. However, showers and storms become scattered about during the afternoon. Otherwise, summer heat returns, with high temperatures in the low 90s.
Showers and storms become scattered about again on Friday, but rain coverage looks lower Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the afternoon heat becomes a bit more intense, with high temperatures in the mid 90s each day. Rain chances might be even lower for the first few days next week. However, the afternoon heat may back down, with high temperatures in the low 90s Monday through Friday.
