Students at Macon East Academy begin new school year

While most schools have already started back, some in our area got the new year started this morning.

Action 8 News stopped by Macon East Academy in Cecil as faculty and staff greeted students as they arrive.

The cheerleaders were also on-hand greeting everyone, while students posed for pictures to commemorate the special day.

Parents we spoke with say the day is more than just the start of something new.

“They are ready to be back,” said parent Kara Kennedy. “They are ready to learn and they can’t wait to have the best day ever. It sets the tone for the year.”

Macon East Academy serves nearly 300 students in grades PreK through 12th.

In addition to Macon East Academy, students at The Montgomery Academy also started back.
