Montgomery fire crews battle house fire

Montgomery firefighters have battled a house fire just off of South Court Street.

Montgomery Fire/Rescue Assistant Chief Stanley Cooper said the fire was reported at a home on Southmont Drive just after 9:30 last night.

When fire crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke from the single-story home, but didn’t find anyone inside.

The Montgomery Fire/Rescue chaplain is helping the people who lived there.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
