ACTION 8 UPDATE: Phase 1 of Pike Road High School construction completed

ACTION 8 UPDATE: Phase 1 of construction has now been completed on the new Pike Road High School.

School officials say the work was done on time, and the building is now about 22% finished.

A new campus is being built on Wallahatchie Road, near Pike Road. The new campus will be home to around 1,500 students in grades 9-12.

Pike Road Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford says he is happy with the progress.

“Everything is moving along fine. We are not experiencing any hiccups so far, knock on wood, but as you drive down Wallahatchie, you see we are doing the turn lanes. We’ve got buildings that are vertical we’ve got the actual color brick that goes on there on some of the walls, and so we’re really encouraged,” Lankford told Action 8 News.

Crews are also working on an access road to Pike Road.

Langford says he wants to add an advanced academic wing with about six classrooms and a special education suite of four classrooms.

He hopes that students will be able to move into the new high school in January 2027. High school classes are currently being held on the Georgia Washington campus, which was purchased from Montgomery Public Schools.
